Weather Beacon is an oracle for the digital age. Merging Wi-Fi technology and industrial engineering, this kinetic sculpture receives data from the Internet and emits a code of flashing lights, forecasting the weather and inviting the public to connect to their physical and invisible surroundings. Presented by Arts World Financial Center. Sculpture operates 24 hours a day, though December 31.

Weather Beacon has been made possible, in part, by a grant from the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council with the generous support of The September 11th Fund.

The Drifting Encyclopedia is an assemblage of American oddities, scientific and historical ephemera, questionable accounts and implausible representations thereof. Part Victorian cabinet of curiosities, part roadside attraction, this art installation houses exhibits that echo themes of unlikely connections and contemplates the actual, illusory and anomalous nature of love. Paul–André Fortier: Solo 30x30

Solo 30x30 is 30-minute dance performance presented in the same location, at the same time for 30 consecutive days. Avi Buffalo, the adopted name of nineteen year-old singer/songwriter/guitarist Avigdor Zahner-Isenberg, began as a solo act, but now includes the talented Rebecca Coleman (keyboards, vocals), Arin Fazio (bass) and Sheridan Riley (drums). The Guardian (UK) dubbed the band's self-titled debut album, “one of 2010's most startlingly lovable albums.”

Recalling Neil Young at his most fragile and plaintive, and Thurston Moore at his most resolved and vital, Chad VanGaalen completes the night. Presented by The Seaport. 6pm DJ, 7pm bands.

And on Fridays, borrow a bike from Bike and Roll and see the island on two wheels. The Island (including all three exhibits) is open every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday through October 10.
