Burning Spear
One of the most brilliant and respected roots artists in Jamaica's history, Burning Spear (a.k.a. Winston Rodney) has recorded a host of classic dread records over the years. Part Rastafarian preacher, part black historian, Burning Spear brilliantly illuminates Rastafarianism in song. Presented by Battery Park City Authority.

I saw Burning Spear in Philadelphia about 8 years ago. It was amazing. He was everything you could POSSIBLY imagine. He reaches out and touches the soul of the music and the fans. Even if you've never heard him, you will respect him for all he gives to you.

Burning Spear is one of the few reggae artist who sings authentic reggae music. His music is about social justice, peace, love and unity.

Unity, Love and Roots Reggae! Burn! Burn! The Burning Spear!

I love Burning Spear. My summer would not be complete without seeing him. Funny, I was bummed that he was not on the line-up for Celebrate Brooklyn and had cast it off to missing the summer of 2010 in NYC. Until I was on the subway and saw a poster for the River to River Festival and noticed his name! I was so delighted that I let out a yelp and people looked at me. I did not explain. It was my sweet little secret! Can't wait to see him tonight and revel in his spirit and dance to his vibe! Ya Man!!!
