Richie Havens Four Nights of Peace, Love & Music: A Castle Clinton Tribute to Woodstock
Richie Haven's soulful singing style has remained as unique and ageless as when he first emerged from the Greenwich Village folk scene. Today he continues to inspire us through his melodic messages of brotherhood and freedom.

Richie Havens voice is like rasberries dipped in dark chocolate, with a sip of heated wine. Im so sorry I missed him at the Hoboken Arts and Music festival. If it rains will the concert be relocated? thx Donna Lisa
— Donna-Lisa the bike mechanic , 2009-07-21 07:23 PM
This concert will take place at Castle Clinton rain or shine. If the rain is bad, there may be a rain delay or, in extreme case, a cancellation, but it will not be relocated and we'll do everything possible to make it happen.

Just wondering -- are there chairs set up inside Castle Clinton, or should we bring blankets to sit on?
— Rachel , 2009-07-22 09:56 AM
There are chairs set up at Castle Clinton.

how late will the show go? and is there an opener for richie???
— dave , 2009-07-23 07:26 AM
The show will be over by 9 pm, at the latest. There is not an opening act.
— R2R , 2009-07-23 09:02 AM
Is this a dry event or will alcohol be served/permitted?
— sunscorona , 2009-07-23 09:42 AM
What is the seating capacity of the venue?
— sunscorona , 2009-07-23 09:50 AM
How many tickets are they giving out. If I get there right at 7 will I get in.
— Christina , 2009-07-23 11:57 AM
Beer and wine are sold at concessions. You cannot bring your own in. The capacity is approximately 1200 - most of which is seated but there is some standing room. It's impossible for us to say when we will run out of tickets, but we suspect this will be a popular show and that there will not be tickets available if you arrive at 7 pm.
— R2R , 2009-07-23 12:40 PM
Is it obvious where to wait for tickets if we get there early? Thanks much
— EE , 2009-07-23 02:05 PM
The ticket line is directly across from the Castle entrance - it should be pretty obvious and marked by barricade.
— R2R , 2009-07-23 02:14 PM
is it a covered venue? Will the show go on if it rains?
— JEnn , 2009-07-23 02:36 PM
this event is rain or shine? what if it's pouring, as predicted?
— Robin , 2009-07-23 05:02 PM
IF it's pouring it will be just like the actual Woodstock
— gregory , 2009-07-23 05:31 PM
Richie Havens starting early tonight in order to get as much show in as possible - come on down NOW! Aiming to start in a few minutes...
— R2R , 2009-07-23 06:28 PM
What happened? Did the show go on? I had trouble getting info last night and it was pouring from 5pm on where I was in Lower Manhattan.
Is this being rescheduled.
— nyitaly , 2009-07-24 07:26 AM
I went to the WFC at 7 as it was raining rather steadily and i assumed the concert would be moved indoors-what happened?
— sue , 2009-07-24 12:00 PM
As was posted here, the concert did go on as scheduled although we started a little early in order to ensure we could get as much show in as possible.
The second post on this page outlines that this concert was rain or shine - meaning there was not a rain date or a rain venue. Sorry if this was not clear.
— R2R , 2009-07-24 02:31 PM
was richie havens cancelled on thursday july 23,2009
— pete , 2009-07-24 03:57 PM
You sure you wanna ask that question, Pete? Perhaps you should read the post just above it...
— Duh , 2009-07-24 04:01 PM
hey, guys, for those of us who really were pained to miss the fabulous RH, pls leave a msg on you answering tape when important info breaks!!!!Not all fans run around w/email & laptops for rain cancel reports etc!!!! THIS WAS A MAJOR BUMMER.
— JULIE , 2009-07-25 01:41 AM
I spoke to a park ranger outside of the Irish famine memorial and at 5 and he told me the show was cancelled. Now I read all this and am really pained.
— o , 2009-07-25 08:47 PM
why does this say "Richie Havens Four Nights..." if he only played one night? This is misleading, and obviously I'm not happy that I missed the only night that he played.
— Chuck , 2009-07-25 09:04 PM
I've seen so many great events through the River To River Festival series in the last few weeks. Thank you for posting all of the information so clearly here, that's not always the case. I brought a towel to wipe the seats and some plastic to sit on and we had a wonderful evening!
