Seaport Music: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart with Zaza and Ribbons
A breaking New York City four-piece, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart play sweet & noisy pop with boy/girl vocals, blissful melodies and blistering drums. Critics cite influences of new wave, shoegaze-pop and dance-punk, that combine to create "beautiful and perfect and wonderfully genuine" music which typifies "everything that's great about indie pop at the moment."

Brooklyn-based ZAZA is a "gothy, post-punk-influenced" duo comprised of Jennifer Fraser and Danny Taylor, whose "sensual and suspenseful" tracks would be ideal as soundtracks for erotic thrillers.  ZAZA's debut six-song EP Cameo is due out this summer on Kanine Records, the DIY label in Williamsburg.

Joining the bill is Ribbons, a Brooklyn-based duo of Jenny Logan (vocals/guitar/bass) and Sam Roudman (drums/backing vocals) who originally hail from California.  With comparisons to early Joy Division, Ribbons plays progressive, thrash rock.

'comparisons to early joy division' -- i know it's a sought accolade but what qualifies as 'early'? the band in terms of its output effectively existed for three years.

Are chairs available or do you need to bring a blanket?

This is a standing venue. You're welcome to bring a blanket, but you'll probably get stepped on...
