This Great Country is 600 HIGHWAYMEN’s re-spin of Arthur Miller’s Pulitzer Prize-winning drama Death of a Salesman. In an everyday, vacant space, 17 individuals come together with an audience to breathe new life into Miller’s epic portrait of self-worth amid shifting economics and fading dreams. Following a critically-acclaimed, sold-out run in Austin’s Fusebox Festival 2012, This Great Country is restaged with both Texas and New York actors, fusing Millerʼs drama with 600 HIGHWAYMEN’s unique theatrics and highly charged performance style.

600 HIGHWAYMEN

600 HIGHWAYMEN, founded in 2009 by Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone, is dedicated to creating a body of original productions that re-imagine the live theatrical experience for an audience. The company’s works respond to and engage with the community and its audience directly, creating social situations that explore intimacy among a group of strangers, and bind spectator and performer in the power of a shared experience.

600 HIGHWAYMEN integrate creative methods ranging from the mainstream to the peculiar, and seek out unique collaborations with communities, businesses, and non-traditional performance sites. Productions eschew sets, costumes, and other transformative material elements in exploring a radical approach to making live art.

600 HIGHWAYMEN has earned accolades as a rising star on the landscape of contemporary American theater, with performances that have been awarded distinctions and lauded by the Village Voice, Flavorpill, The New York Times, and Time Out New York.
