WHO WE ARE
The Downtown Alliance is a not-for-profit organization responsible for promoting Downtown New York as a premiere destination for business, tourism and living. We are the coordinating organization for River To River and are responsible for collecting and distributing information on the River To River web site (the "Site").
WHAT THIS PRIVACY POLICY COVERS
This policy governs how the Downtown Alliance treats personal information that it collects and receives about you from the Site, including information related to your use of the site and information you supply for distribution to companies. Personal information is information about you that is personally identifiable like your name, business, address, email address, or phone number, and that is not otherwise publicly available.
This policy does not apply to the practices of companies that the Downtown Alliance does not own or control or to people that the Downtown Alliance does not employ or manage, even if those companies, people or services are described, listed or linked to from the Site.
INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE
The Downtown Alliance collects personal information when you subscribe to the R2R Wire, and when you visit pages on the Site. The Downtown Alliance may combine information about you that we have with information we obtain from our business partners or other companies.
When you subscribe to the R2R Wire, we ask for information such as your name, email address, mailing address and how you heard about River To River. Once you subscribe to the R2R Wire you are not anonymous to us.
The Downtown Alliance automatically receives and records information on our server logs from your browser, including your IP address and the pages you request. Although we do not currently use that information except in the aggregate to understand how many visitors the Site has, we may do so in the future to customize the content you see, fulfill your requests for services, improve our services, contact you, conduct research, or provide anonymous reporting for our constituents and others related to the River To River program.
CHILDREN
Children under age 13 are not permitted to subscribe to the R2R Wire and we do not collect or retain any personal information about them. Children under age 13 are welcome to participate in all other aspects of the Site.
INFORMATION SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
The Downtown Alliance does not rent, sell or distribute personal information about you to other people or companies not affiliated with River To River.
When we have your permission, we may share your personal information with other River To River sponsors so that they can make you aware of their upcoming events, products and services. We provide this information only to companies we know and work with who have been involved in providing the River To River events you have enjoyed.
We may also use your personal information under the following circumstances: To respond to subpoenas, court orders, or legal process, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims;
To investigate, prevent, or take action regarding, or aid in the investigation, prevention or taking of action regarding, illegal activities, suspected fraud, situations involving potential threats to the physical safety of any person, violations of the Site's terms of use, or as otherwise required by law.
We may also transfer information about you to a successor company if the Downtown Alliance changes its corporate form or is acquired by or merged with another entity.

CONFIDENTIALITY AND SECURITY
We limit access to personal information about you to employees who we believe reasonably need to come into contact with that information to provide products or services to you or in order to do their jobs. We have physical, electronic, and procedural safeguards to protect your personal information.
